How To Get Rid Of Chapped Lips

Are your lips cracking? Is it becoming too painful and sensitive? It is quite common for people to have chapped lips. This is due to lack of moisture on the skin around the lips. Remove the dead skin cells

When you are having chapped lips, the skin cells around your mouth are starting to die. So in order to make way for new cells to grow, you should remove the dead skin cells on your lips first. To do this, simply dip a washcloth in warm water. Rub this cloth gently but thoroughly over and around your lips. Aside from washcloth, you can also use toothbrush. Using a soft-bristled toothbrush, try to remove the loose, and dead skin cells on your mouth. Again, be gentle in rubbing your lips if you do not want to end up with bleeding mouth. DO this method every day.

Apply some petroleum jelly or lip balm

After you have removed the dead skin cells, you should moisturize your lips with petroleum jelly or lip balm. Not only will this help in keeping your lips moist, but it will also protect your lips from becoming more damaged. It may also help if you apply lip balm o petroleum jelly on your lips overnight.

Apply olive oil and sugar paste

Olive oil and brown sugar can help in exfoliating your lips. Simply mix about one teaspoon of olive oil and another teaspoon of brown sugar. Mix them together to make a light paste. Then, apply the mixture on your lips. Try to gently rub your lips with it so the flaking will be diminished. Then, rinse your lips with warm water.

Drink lots of water

One major cause of chapped lips is dehydration. So if you want to stop your lips from cracking, you should drink lots of water every day. The usual 6-8 glasses are enough but you can consume more if you still feel like your body is lacking with water.

Eat lots of fruits and veggies

If your body contains excessive acid, then you may end up having chapped lips too. TO solve this problem, you can just eat lots of fruits and vegetables. These foods have the nutrients to restore the proper pH balance of the body. Moreover, fruits and vegetables also have water and can bring back the moisture in your body, plus, they have nutrients that can be very beneficial to you. So cut down those meat and junk foods and indulge with fruits and vegetables.
