How to Get Rid of Gadgets in Vista

If you are currently a Vista user, you have probably seen the sidebar gadgets that are located at the right side of your desktop screen. Up to date, the sidebar is designed with a set of 11 of these useful gadgets. You can choose from: Calendar, Clock, CPU Meter, Slideshow, Notes, Feed Headlines, Picture Puzzle, Stocks, Contacts, Currency and Weather. As a start, Microsoft has automatically picked up a few of them, ready to be of service. You can change them anytime you like.

For some, this new sidebar gadget is very informative and useful. However, there are some who don’t see this that way. If you feel that there is no need for these gadgets, you can remove those in no time. Not only that your desktop will be clean, you can also free up some RAM and processing power.

Close the sidebar

By this time, you have already opened your computer and you can already locate the sidebar. The next thing you have to do is to right-click on the word Gadgets in the upper right hand part of your desktop. From there, you will see an option that says Close sidebar. Click that options and the gadget sidebar will be out of your desktop in no time. From that, you can have you full desktop space.

Uninstall them

First of all, locate the sidebar gadget. Once you see the ‘+’ sign (located at the upper right hand), click it. After which, you will be presented with a window that has all the gadgets that are currently installed in your computer. From that point, right-click on the gadget that you wish to uninstall then click uninstall. Continue this step for the rest of the gadgets that you want to get rid of. When you are pleased with your preference, just click exit. After that, you will see that your desktop is already gadget free.

If you have Windows Vista for your Operating System, then its gadgets and side bar features may actually be known to you. These features can aid in modifying and putting your desktop in order. But if you do not see any use for those gadgets then why not have them taken out?

You have the option to remove the gadgets on your computer for good. You can administer that through uninstalling the gadgets. To uninstall, click on the plus symbol (+) that can be found at the topmost part of your side bar. Determine which gadgets you want to uninstall and right click on it. Choose the uninstall option from the menu that popped-up to delete the gadget. This will remove your gadget from the Gadget Gallery.

Disable the sidebar

Once you are able to see the sidebar, right-click on the sidebar or the sidebar icon. From the list that you will see, click on Properties. After that, you will be prompted with the properties box. Locate the option that says, “Start Sidebar when Windows Starts” then uncheck the box. Once you are done, right-click the sidebar icon and then choose exit to close it.
