How To Get Rid Of Lipstick Stains
Lipstick is one of the most commonly used makeups nowadays. Of course, every girl would want that more defined and kissable lips. However, there are times when lipstick leave unwanted marks. These are lipstick stains. If you were putting on lipstick and the thing suddenly slipped from your hands, it might create stains on your clothing or table tops. Or if you were getting intimate with a partner or just hugging a friend with your lips colored, then you might accidentally leave lipstick stains on their cloth or the beddings. When this happens, you must try to get rid of lipstick stains before they can settle down on the fabrics.
Removing lipstick stains is actually a bit easy, especially if the fabric fiber of the stained clothing has not yet fully absorbed the lipstick color. Usually, you can remove lipstick stains with just home products like baking soda or vinegar. Remember, the key thing is to act as soon as the accident happens. To help you get rid of lipstick stains, here are some things that you can do.
Choose dry cleaners
If the fabric of the cloth that got stained is quite expensive, you can just choose to take it to the dry cleaners. Sometimes, things that are needed to remove stains are a bit harsh to fabrics like satin or silk, so it is best to take it to the dry cleaners for the stains to be removed.
Dab with alcohol
Alcohol can easily take away the lipstick stains. Simply get a cotton or piece of cloth and saturate it with rubbing alcohol. Dab the stained area of the fabric repeatedly until the stains come out. Remember not to rub the stain as it may just spread. Just keep on dabbing as much lipstick stain as you could.
Soak with liquid dishwashing detergent
If the alcohol dabbing did not work, then you can soak the stained area with liquid dishwashing detergent. Simply sprinkle some water in the area first then rub about one drop of liquid dishwashing detergent on the area. After about a minute, or until the stain is lifted up, rinse the area with cold water. Repeat this method if needed be.
Soak with vinegar
If the item that is stained is white in color, you can soak the item with vinegar. The vinegar will break down the stain components and make it loose. Just soak the item in vinegar for a few minutes. Then launder normally with detergent and clean water. Hang the cloth to dry for it to bleach naturally.
Rub some lemon wedges
Lemon can also work as well as lemon. Simply cut up some lemon and rub the stained area with a lemon wedge until you see that the stain is broken down. Wash it again with detergent and water to remove the remaining lipstick stain.
There are times when a very faint lipstick color will appear on the stained area even after washing. If this is the case, you can use bleach to lighten up the color as well. Use bleach for white-colored materials. For colored fabrics, get color-safe bleach. Just rub a small amount of it on the area, leave for a few minutes and wash.
