How To Get Rid Of A Hickey
Kiss is a form of expression of love. Sometimes, because of too much passion, one kiss can lead into a common subject of rumors. A long, passionate kiss can, more often than not, result to an unwanted mark which is a hickey. It forms because of a sucking action and the blood is being hindered to flow freely. When this happens, you will see a purplish-red kind of mark on your skin. Hickeys are actually similar to bruises and the removal of hickey is almost the same as removing a bruise.
There are actually minimal things you can do to get rid of a hickey. But, even though you can’t get rid of the source quickly, you can do some tricks to hide it. If you have acquired a kiss mark and it is in an exposed area of the skin, you might want to get rid of it before your friends start to tease you about it. Here are some things you can do to get rid of a hickey.
Treating a hickey is actually the same as treating the bruise. And when you have discovered that a bruise is forming, what you should do is to prevent it from growing. And one thing that may help prevent it from spreading is to use cold or hot compress. Hot compress will soothe your blood vessels and this will make the vessels expand so that the blood can circulate more freely and the hickey will be less visible. On the other hand, the cold compress will constrict the blood vessels so that the size of the hickey will not spread.
First, apply the cold compress first. Cube ice will also do. Once the size has been fixed, apply the hot compress to alleviate the swelling and build up of the blood.
Massage the area
Massaging the area where the hickey is can help speed up the circulation of the stuck blood. Simply massage your skin with your thumb and rub it in circular motions. While this might not get rid of the hickey immediately, it will help to speed up its disappearance.
Gently brushing your hickey has the same effect as massaging it. You can either use a soft-bristled brush or your toothbrush. Dip it into hot water and try to scrub the mark up and down for a couple of minutes. Repeat this step several times a day to make the hickey vanish quickly.
Concealer will not really get rid of the hickey, but it can hide the hickey until it goes away for good. Simply get a concealer that is lighter, but almost as the same shade as your skin. Apply a liberal amount on your hickey. Spread it evenly until it patches up your skin and covers the hickey perfectly. Some concealer does not last for a long time so you should always keep in check your concealer and reapply if it needed. If you do not have concealer, you can also use light eyeshadow that is the same color as your skin tone.
Wait for it to disappear
If the home remedies did not work effectively, then you have no choice but to just wait. Usually, a hickey will just last for about 2 days. Until it goes away, you can just hide your skin from getting seen. Hickeys often form on neck. If this is the case, you can just wear turtleneck or wear some scarf.
