How to Get Rid of a Sock Tan
Tan is an attractive color, no question about that. Some people would even pay to get that color on their skin. There are times that tan on the skin appears and would result in an uneven skin tone. This happens accidentally most of the time, sometimes when people forget to put sun block on the skin. If the skin is exposed to the sun, expect it to become tan and the covered part would look lighter.
So just imagine if you have socks all day and your feet are covered. This will guarantee that your legs will be darker than your feet. At times, tan is attractive but there are other times that it wouldn’t look good pretty. If you look at the mirror, you will see a light colored foot against a dark leg and the appearance would just look unsightly.
Sock tan is not a major problem but there are instances when the color is off by miles. It’s not a problem if you always wear shoes and pants when you go out to cover the feet and the leg but it’s a totally different story if you are wearing sandals and shorts. Although not a major problem, you should still get rid of sock tan, and the following are some of the things that you can do:
Rub your feet with baking soda
Baking soda and water can do wonders with your feet in getting rid of sock tan. A mixture of ½ cup of warm water and the same amount of baking soda will provide one of the most basic solutions in treating sock tan. You will be able to come up with a paste from this mixture that you can rub on your feet. This mixture removes dead skin cells that cause the sock tan. It is a type of exfoliation that will remove the tanned cells on the outermost layer of the skin.
Have you ever noticed why some people’s face is usually whiter than the rest of the body? This is the result of a bad application of makeup. Never mind the misstep in makeup application, since the point is that you can change the complexion of the skin through makeup. Bronzer powder or foundation makeup can be used to cover the light shade of the skin. Applying makeup on the feet is the same as applying makeup on the face just be sure to apply it lightly and wash it off after your day is done.
Cover it up
If you haven’t attempted to remove sock tan yet and you have to go out of the house and have little time to get rid of the tan, you can use clothing that can cover the sock tan. Rather than shorts, you can use pants which will cover your leg up to your ankles, effectively hiding the uneven skin tone.
Use a compact tanner
Although this is not the most conventional way to get rid of sock tan, you can still give it a try especially if you will be using it frequently. You can purchase compact tanner which is designed to darken the color of the feet. Compact tanners are not that expensive and one of the most effective ways to make the color of the skin and leg even. Use compact tanners according to instructions to avoid over exposure that can result in darker colored feet.
