How to Get Rid of Anemia

Anemia is a health condition that can be unsafe or it may be a symptom of a more serious condition or illness. It is a condition in which the number of red blood cells decreases because of a deficiency in hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is a protein, which helps transfer oxygen from the lungs to the entire body and makes blood red. Instead, they recommend drinking water or vitamin C-rich beverages. Also, according to some researches, overconsumption of milk should be avoided to get rid of anemia. When the body has too much calcium, this blocks its ability to absorb iron, especially in children younger than age 2.


Honey is one of the ways to get rid of anemia. Use darker honey because it is more effective. Honey is known to be a potent blood enricher. So what are you going to prepare? First, mash a ripe banana with a 1 tablespoon of honey and eat this once or twice a day. Or, stir a tablespoon of honey into a glass of orange or lemon juice and drink this early each morning. You can substitute apple cider vinegar for the lemon. You can also combine an egg yolk with one tablespoonful of honey. Take a teaspoon every morning.

Be hydrated

Remember to keep yourself hydrated. Since anemia is usually accompanied by dehydration, it is important that you keep yourself hydrated. Do not drink too much, though, or you will dilute your red blood cells and worsen your anemia.


You need iron so take iron supplements. Iron-deficiency anemia can be treated with iron supplements, which usually need to be taken for several months.

Surgery and transfusion

If you find that your anemia is in a severe level, then you need a blood transfusion although generally, doctors avoid doing it. A bone marrow transplant is also an option if the anemia is due to your marrows not producing enough hemoglobin. There are many types of anemia. As such, you need to have yourself checked by your doctor for a specific set of treatments. In most cases, all you need is constant checking of your diet and a shift to a healthier lifestyle. Anemia, though common, should not be taken lightly.
