Banana is one of the healthiest fruits out there. It also has a very delicious flavor that suits the taste of most people of all ages. The downside is that, the taste of banana can also be very appealing to banana bugs. There are many insects that get attracted to bananas. Some of the most common ones are the aphids, white flies and mealy bugs. The number of banana bugs cases around is not really too alarming. However, when these banana bugs invade your lot, they can be really bothersome.
If you have a banana tree planted in your yard, you might have observed tiny insects hovering on your banana plant. These banana bugs can make your lot look unpleasant. Aside from that, they can also damage your bananas and other fruits. So when you see that banana bugs start to take over your banana plant, you need to remove and kill them as soon as possible before they can infest other plants and trees in your home. Use a high-pressure hose
You can easily get rid of banana bugs by using high-pressure hose. If you do not have one, you can borrow it from your friend or neighbor. Simply set up the high-pressure hose and use it to wash your banana plants. Because of the strong surge of water, those banana bugs will fly away to save their lives, if in case they survived the water pressure. Usually, spraying water is enough to scare those banana bugs away.
Take note that, as much as possible, you should not use chemicals in removing banana bugs because the chemicals might damage your plant.
Make a soapy water solution
If water is not enough, then you can use a soapy water solution to get rid of those banana bugs. Get a pitcher of water and fill it with about four cups of water. Add about 1-3 tablespoons of mild liquid soap on the water. Mix them all together to create a soapy water solution. When the solution is ready, get a spray bottle and fill it with the mixture.

When you spray soapy water solution to the banana plant, you have to be very thorough to make sure that those banana bugs will die. Spray the solution to the soil around the plant, stem, leaves and fruit. You have to pay close attention to the underside of the banana leaves because it is where those banana bugs love to hide. Let the banana plant absorb the soapy water solution for about fifteen minutes. Afterwards, rinse the banana plant with water. Using a high-pressure hose can help in making the remaining banana bugs go away. If the banana bug infestation is quite serious, you might have to repeat washing the banana plants for a few days.
The best time to apply soapy water solution is during early mornings or late afternoons, when the sun is not too hot. The soapy water solution can burn the banana leaves if there is too much heat.
Place sticky traps
To avoid getting revisited by banana bugs, it might be good if you can place sticky traps around your yard. Sticky traps are just sheets of sticky yellow paper. For some reason, banana bugs are attracted to the color of yellow and once they see these traps, they will fly towards them and get trapped. You can get sticky traps in your local store.
