How to Get Rid of Crying Eyes
When we are overwhelmed by our emotions, we just can’t help it but to start crying. No matter what we feel, whether we are happy or sad, crying is just a natural emotion that we cannot control. Although crying helps our body to vent out these emotions, we sometimes feels embarrassed by the fact that we cried. And even though we stopped crying for several hours already, the evidence is still there with crying eyes.
Crying eyes is the term used for the appearance of the eyes after crying. The eyes appear swollen and puffy. The longer we cry, the bigger our eyes will get. The tears are produced by a gland that is placed in the upper corner of the eyelid. The tears would usually flow in the ocular tissue which causes the eyes to swell and have its puffy appearance.
There are several reasons why we have to get rid of crying eyes; it may be that we don’t want other people to ask questions regarding the reason why we cried. Another reason would be we simply feel embarrassed and people would notice that we just cried. To help you get rid of crying eyes, follow the procedures that are discussed below:
Do not rub your eyes
The eyes are one of the most sensitive parts of the body and it can produce tears by simply rubbing it. If you have been crying already, you don’t want to touch the eyes since it can get irritated. Once the eyes get irritated, it can become more inflamed. If you would like to wipe your tears, you don’t have to use your hands. Instead, look for a tissue or a handkerchief and blot the tears rather than wiping them.
You can use cold washcloths or wash your face
After crying, you should prepare a cold washcloth that you can use to blot your eyes. After wiping your face with cold washcloth, it can soothe the eyes and would lessen the irritation. You can also wash your face with cold water as this would also soothe the eyes. Anything that can soothe the eyes is a great solution to make the eyes less puffy.
Use eye creams and eye masks
There are a lot of eye products that you can purchase from different stores which you can use to treat crying eyes. You can buy eye masks or eye creams that can conceal the puffiness of the eyes. There are eye masks that are made from natural ingredients such as cucumber, mint and aloe. These plants are often used to soothe the eyes and reduce the irritation which effectively reduces the swelling of the eyes.
Use natural solutions
Do you have cucumbers in your house that is just lying around and you feel that you won’t be using them even in the immediate future? There are natural solutions to help you treat crying eyes and one of them is by putting cucumber on top of your eyes. Aside from cucumbers, you can also use other natural solutions such as aloe and mint.
First, you will have to chill the cucumber slices in a fridge and then place them on your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. This will refresh and rejuvenate your eyes. You can also use milk and water solution. You will have to soak pads in the solution and place the pads on your eyes for at least 15 minutes.
