How to Get Rid of Dead Skin on Face

Our skin is one of the most important organs in our body. It serves as our first line of defense from any possible external pathogens. Also, it acts as a thermo-regulator keeping our body in the right temperature always. The natural course of our skin is that the outer layer renews every 28 to 30 days leaving our dead skin cells very visible.

Although our body is capable of shredding off the dead skin cells on its own, it can still accumulate. Naturally, a certain amount of dead skin cell is required to act as a protection. However, a build-up of dead skin will just be nothing but a barrier. If this happens, your skin will be unable to absorb certain nutrients that you usually get from applying lotion and creams. This is also one reason as to why we sometimes have white heads, black heads and acnes. Exfoliation is the key and there are a lot of exfoliants that you can use to help you get rid your dead skin cells.

Refined sugar

This is the simplest exfoliants there is. You just have to put a tablespoon in a blender and put it on high mode until it gets more refined. Next, wash your face with warm water and while your face is still wet, apply the refined sugar to your face. Remember, while you are massaging it gently in a circular motion, firm rubbing is also necessary for the dead skin cells to peel off. After a minute of exfoliating, rinse with cold water and pat your face dry.

Oatmeal mix

This is also an effective way to get rid of facial dead skin cells. Just mix 1 tablespoon of oatmeal with milk—just enough to make a pasty mixture. So now, wash your face with warm water and pat dry. After that, apply the oatmeal mixture to you face. Make sure that you have the mixture on all areas. Leave it for a couple of minutes or just enough that the mixture turns hard. This will feel like a mask once dry. When peeling the mask, make sure that you peel from the chin and lifted upwards. This also serves as nutrition to your skin as oatmeal has vitamin E and B which are very helpful for the skin’s rejuvenation. Lastly, rinse with cold water and pat you face dry.

Micordermabrasion scrub

This is a simple scrub that you can do at home. It’s as simple as mixing honey, baking soda, lemon and fine sugar granules. If you are wondering where you can find fine sugar granules, it’s just regular sugar that has been set on a blender for 30 seconds. To start the micordermabrasion scrub, wash you’re the area with warm water first then pat dry. Apply the cream on the area while gently massaging the surface of your skin using your fingertips. Maintain a balance between gentle massaging and firm rubbing to get the results that you want. Rubbing in circular motion helps in removing the dead skin faster.

Fruit peel

For this kind of exfoliant, you will just need honey, papaya and pineapple. You see, these two fruits have active substances called papain and bromelain. These can break up proteins which helps speed up the removal of your dead skin cells. It’s just simple as putting these two fruits in a blender and puree it until it smoothen out a bit. You can now add two tablespoons of honey. This would bind everything and also has a moisturizing effect of the mixture. Wash the area first before applying the mixture. Let it stay for about 5-7 minutes but if you have sensitive skin and you are applying this mixture on sensitive areas like your face, leave it for a minute or two only. After that, rinse with cold water then pat dry. Use a moisturizer afterwards.
