How to Get Rid of Female Sideburns

Sideburns or what is also known as sideboards are patches of facial hair that grows on the side of the face. It starts from the hairline on the side and extends to below the ears. This term was derived from way back in the 19th century. It was associated to the original burnsides and was named after the American Civil War General Ambrose Burnside who was known for this unusual facial hairstyle. After this, it has become a fashion statement for men in power.

Now, this is totally out of style nowadays however, there are instances that the natural growth of your facial hair exhibits to that of having a sideburn. Most of the people who have this especially females would really want to get rid of this. Just like any facial hair, females are obsessed to get rid of them. Here are some ways:

Bleaching

Bleaching you sideburns is known as one of the simplest and effective way to get rid of it. There are also several home kits available at your local drugstore or Wal-Mart. One of the effective products is Sally Hansen’s cream hair bleach. Just read for proper instructions before using. A few minutes after applying the cream, your sideburns will lighten thus making it undetectable. Not only that, it also contains aloe which soothes and moisturizes you skin. This lasts for a couple of weeks and then you have to reapply as needed.

Waxing

This process is perfect if you have thick sideburns. This is the next option if you sideburn can’t get away with bleaching. There are a lot of wax preparations available that are really easy to use. Just read the instructions before using it. This can last for up to two weeks and although it can be somewhat painful, you are sure that the sideburn will be taken care of. Remember that facial hair grows in over three cycles so when you wax it, your hair significantly reduces the thickness. There may come a time that the sideburn may stop growing.

Plucking

This method is applicable for those who have thin and have mild sideburns only. Pluck the hair using a pair of tweezers. It can be very painful as you are plucking the hair as well as its roots but then again, it depends on your pain tolerance and skin sensitivity.

Laser

For permanent results, laser hair removal is the solution. This can be pricey but since the area is relatively small, it would not be as expensive as you think it is. Most often than not, you will need more than just one treatment to be able to get rid of your sideburns permanently. The advantage of this is that you will never have to worry about your sideburns ever again.  If interested in something such as this, consider consulting with a local clinic in your area.  Again, since the area is rather small you’re going to find that the prices are rather low.  By the time you wax and pluck, you will find that something like this will be a lot more cost efficient.
