How to Get Rid of Genital Warts

These are small rash-like growths that can usually be found in, around or on the surface of your vagina or penis. They usually are pink to red in color. Genital warts are known to be infectious and transmittable when in direct contact. They also vary in size as some can be very small that it can’t be seen by just looking and some may be as big as the size of the pimple. You may experience difficulty in passing urine, burning and itching around the sex organ, pain during sexual intercourse and the like.

These are caused by Human Papilloma Virus or HPV which is a known transmitted disease. This is the hard part because HPV has no cure because they could go back anytime. These medications are sort of for chemical burns as they burn down the warts. These are just for external warts only.  One lotion that is recommended in particular is a hemp lotion.  Apply this lotion to the affected area at least once a day after a shower.  You’ll find that within a few weeks, the problem should go away.

Podofilox (Condylox)

This medication comes in gel or lotion form. If you have this, it has an applicator that comes with the medicine. Make sure that you read the instructions first before applying it. This medication can cause irritation when applied to areas that are not infected by genital warts. If that happens, wash it off immediately. Also, this medication is not for long time use—it should never be used for more than three weeks. If ever that the warts have not been well, visit your doctor again.

Podolhyllin Resin (Podofin)

This also come in lotion and gel form.  According to the insturctions of this medication, you should apply this three times a day for three consecutive days then stop for the fourth day. Afterwards, repeat the application for four weeks. This specific medication should only be applied by your doctor because constant monitoring for side effects is needed and the usage needs to be accurate. Also, if you are pregnant, this medication is not safe to be used.

Teas

Doctors and experts recommend that you drink up to three cups of tea a day.  Tea that has ingredients such as lemon grass, chamomile and even green tea can help reduce the warts, if not get rid of the completely.

Surgical procedures

This can be a serious option and most often than not, this is only done if there is a really serious problem regarding your genital warts. Discuss the following with your surgeon.
