Gingivitis is actually a gum infection. It is characterized by swelling, redness and inflammation of the gums. Remove residue in between your teeth
The use of dental floss is a must in order to remove any residue of food in between your teeth that may be inviting bacteria. After you eat, use dental floss to clean up the spaces in between your teeth before you brush your teeth.
Brush after meal time
Brushing after meal time can help flush out those germs on your mouth. Brushing does not mean just keeping your teeth clean. You also have to pay attention to your cheeks, tongue and gums. Remember, most of the bacteria inside your mouth are not found in the teeth. It is on the sensitive walls surrounding it. When you brush your teeth, always use dentist-approved toothbrush and toothpaste. Also, follow the up-down motion of brushing and do not forget to brush in between your teeth.

Mouthwash is great in removing germs that are not killed by brushing. Usually, the mouthwash has chemicals that will kill the bacteria in your mouth and flush them out in an instant. You should also use mouthwash that is approved by dentists. Gargle with it after brushing your teeth.
Massage your gums
Massaging your gums can also help fight gingivitis as it will improve the blood flow in the nerves of your gums. After cleaning up your mouth, you can just use your finger to gently but firmly press on your gums. You can also use the back of your toothbrush. For a more effective result, you can also do the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide treatment.
To do this, simply mix baking soda and a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to create a paste. Apply the paste on your gums and leave it for a few minutes. Both baking soda and peroxide are notorious in killing germs, and if you do this treatment at least once a day, the gingivitis-causing bacteria will be gotten rid of more quickly. After a few minutes have passed, rinse your mouth with water to remove the paste residue.
