How to Get Rid of Heat Rash
Heat rash or what is scientifically known as Miliaria Rubra is a skin disease that is seen as small and itchy rashes. This is very common condition when in hot or warm weathers and humid conditions. This is very common for those who live in the tropical areas. Everybody can have heat rash but this is very common amongst children and infants. This is because they have underdeveloped sweat glands. Heat rash developed as the trapped sweat starts to irritate the skin thus results to rashes and sometimes small blisters.
This condition is just a localized rash and is very easy to treat. You have to something about it as soon as you see them as this can be very irritating and because it’s itchy, you will continuously have the urge to scratch as much as you can. Here are some tips to avoid and get rid of heat rash:
Wash with soap and water
Since this is generally a skin infection, it is very important that you disinfect it—starting with the easiest remedy, mild antibacterial soap and water. Just pour tap water to the area and gently apply a mild soap. Dial and Lever 2000 are two of the most recommended mild soaps. Rinse thoroughly and don’t forget to pat dry the area.
Heat, moist skin and friction are some of the many contributing factors that can aggravate heat rashes. In order to avoid those, you have to keep the area dry all the time. This talcum powder will dry your skin. Just simply apply as much as you want to the area as often as you want. If you don’t have talcum powder, you can use cornstarch baby powder or just plain cornstarch powder that is usually used for baking.
This is probably one of the most popular remedy for any skin irritation or any other skin infection. Just boil a couple of tablespoons of oatmeal and apply it to your skin after it has been cooled a little. You can also boil it in a sock. When applying, gently scrub it against the affected area. Rinse thoroughly. Then pat dry.
The good thing about aloe is that it gives your skin a cooling effect thus making it less itchy. Just apply enough on the affected area.
Avoid the sun
If you’re finding yourself outside a majority of the day, you’re going to want to avoid it as much as possible to avoid these potential rashes. If you’re going to be in the sun, be sure to wear lots of sunscreen, as well as wear loose fitting clothing. Stay indoors as much as possible to avoid the sun altogether.
Consult with a doctor
If the rash is lasting longer than 5 days, it’s going to be a good idea to meet with your doctor to discuss some possibilities in order to get rid of it. If it looks like it’s becoming infected, or if blisters are forming, it’s going to be best to get some medication that can only be prescribed.
Other home remedies that work great with heat rashes is cocoa butter. Rub this cream on the rash as you would do with any other lotion. Continue to do this for a few days to see if the rash gets any better.
