How to Get Rid of Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoid is a condition wherein a vein in the anus or rectum is abnormally swollen. When this happens, it becomes irritated and the surrounding membranes will begin to swell as well. Other symptoms may include, itching, burning sensation and bleeding. This condition can be really painful especially when your passing put flatus and every time you have bowel movements.

There are many causes of hemorrhoids. Some of the includes sitting or standing for long periods of time, anal intercourse, diet (fiber deficiency) , severe coughing, too much straining during bowel movements (especially when constipated), childbirth and many more. Notice that any activity that causes strain or excessive impact on the lower extremities especially the rectal area can cause hemorrhoids. Remember that before treating this condition; make sure to know the cause because it can recur anytime.

Hot Sitz Bath

This is a small tub that is unique which allows you to soak your hemorrhoids without taking a bath or getting into too much trouble. This is available in any pharmacies. All you have to do is to pour hot water (tolerable temperature) in the Sitz Bath and soak the rectal area for a good 15 to 10 minutes. You can repeat this process 3 to 4 times a day. The heat will relieve the symptoms and also help shrink the swollen membrane.

If you don’t want to spend for this certain equipment, you can just use a basin. Make sure that the basin is just the right size wherein you can soak your rectal area.

Tucks and Witch Hazel

This is a medicated wipe that can help relieve the itching and burning sensations. You can buy the medicated towelettes as well but you can also use an ordinary non-scented baby wipes. Just allow the Witch Hazel to soak into the wipes and apply according to instructions.

Drink lots of water

This will make your waste a little soft thus making your hemorrhoids less irritated.

Avoid sitting for long period of times

Sitting for long period of times isn’t good for your hemorrhoids.  If you have a job that requires a lot of sitting, it may be ideal to get up and walk about for the time being.  It’s also ideal to not strain on the toilet, as this is going to just make the situation worse.

Try over the counter medication

Medication such as Preparation H and Lanacane are creams that can help reliving an itch, but it isn’t going to get rid of it completely.  If you’re finding that the swelling and itch is getting out of control, these should help remedy the problem for the time being.


Fiber has lots of cellulose in it that help sweep off all the waste in your intestine. They are also capable of making you bowel movement smoother. With this, straining is not necessary anymore.

Consider surgery

You’re going to find that over time, you may not be able to get rid of the hemorrhoids.  In fact, they may go away but they are going to eventually come back.  If you’re finding that you can’t control the pain, you’re going to want to talk with a doctor to discuss surgery options.  There are a few different types of surgeries that can get rid of the problem altogether.
