Removing the kimchi odor is actually quite easy. It is just the same method as removing other unwanted food odors inside the household. There are many things you can do to cover up and get rid of kimchi smell. Here are some simple tips that you can follow to remove the kimchi odor and improve the smell of your home.
Clean up your fridge
If it is your fridge that smells like kimchi, then a regular cleaning will help remove the smell from it. First, defrost your fridge and take away all the items inside it. You can just create a solution out of vinegar and water. Use this to wipe around the fridge. Ironically, kimchi has vinegar contents and yet, vinegar can help counter its smell. Leave the fridge open so that other unwanted odors will be removed. It is also effective if you can just open a fan in front of your fridge. Once the smell has gone away, replace the items inside the fridge and, if you have kimchi, place it in a sealed container where the odor can’t’s escape.
Place lemon juice pitcher
Lemon juice acts like vinegar, only that it has a fresher smell. You can just mix fresh lemon juice and water in a pitcher. Leave the pitcher uncapped and put it inside the fridge. The lemon juice will counter the foul smell of kimchi.
Leave open boxes of baking soda
Baking soda can also absorb the smell of kimchi. You can just open a box of baking soda and place it inside the fridge, your kitchen countertops or wherever the kimchi smell is at its strongest. You can also sprinkle baking soda on furniture that has acquired the stinking kimchi smell. Let the baking soda sit for a few minutes to hours and then wipe it using a damp towel.
Spray some vinegar and water solution
If the kimchi smell is all over the room, you can just spray around vinegar and water solution. Simply mix equal parts of vinegar and water and transfer it inside a spray bottle. Spray the solution around.
You can also just dip a cloth in the solution and then vigorously shake the cloth around. Another alternative is to hang the cloth on the electric fan. Turn on the electric fan so that when the air blows, the vinegar smell will spread and overpower the kimchi smell.
Spray some air freshener
Air freshener can easily remove the kimchi smell. You can just place air fresheners on the room that has kimchi smell, or you can use those air purifier sprays. These materials are readily available in the market.
