Take antihistamine

Allergens are all around and if your immune system is sensitive, they will attack and cause an allergic reaction. If the pink eye is associated with runny nose or cough, it is most likely due to allergens. If this is the case, you can take antihistamine to counter the allergens from your body. Antihistamine medicines are readily available in pharmacies even without medical prescription from a doctor.

Apply some eye drops

Eye drops have antibacterial elements that can fight off the bacteria or virus that have attacked your eye. There are eye drops that can be bought over-the-counter, but it is best to ask for assistance before getting one. Usually, you will just have to apply two drops of the product on the affected eye or both your eyes. Repeat this every couple of hours or as prescribed by the doctor.

As mentioned, pink eye will go away by itself. Just don’t touch it if not necessary. There are times that a person may end up with pink eye when he wakes up in the morning. If after a few hours, the condition seems to be milder, then you can just leave it be and it will most likely heal by itself in just a day. Pink eye should give you an irritating time, but if it gets too much, then you can go to the clinic and consult a doctor about it. It might not just be a pink eye infection so it is best to get proper diagnosis once it becomes worse. The doctor will also give you medications that may help get rid of pink eye.
