How To Get Rid of Plaque

Do you have a rather unclean mouth? Do you have some damaged teeth which often ache? Do your gums bleed a lot even when you are just brushing your teeth? Bad breathe, toothache, bleeding gums – these are three of the most basics symptoms of plaque. Plaque is composed of many germs and bacteria that attack your mouth. Once the bacteria builds up inside your mouth, a whole lot more oral problems will arise from it. Thus, plaque must be treated as soon as you start getting it.

Treating plaque can be quite a hassle. When its symptoms attack, you can even feel very uncomfortable. The good news is that there are several remedies that you can do to get rid of plaque. There are also things that you can follow so that you can prevent plaque from building up in your mouth. Here are the ways that might be useful when you are getting rid of plaque and making your mouth cleaner and healthier.

Use dental floss

Using a dental floss is not so common as using mouthwash and brushing teeth, but actually, flossing should be a part of your regular oral cleaning. Toothbrush bristles might not really remove leftover food deposits in between the teeth. These food particles will then attract more bacteria to your mouth. That is why it is important to use dental floss to remove these remaining food particles on your teeth.

Rinse with oral mouthwash

After using your dental floss, you should rinse with mouthwash. Mouthwash is specifically formulated to kill bacteria and germs in your mouth. It is said that most of the bacteria inside your mouth are not really on your teeth but on your tongue, cheeks and gums. Therefore, you should get oral mouthwash to help you remove the bacteria from your mouth.

Brush your teeth regularly

Of course, if you want to get rid of plaque, then you should brush your teeth regularly. Always get the right products for your teeth. Only get toothbrushes and toothpastes that are recommended by dentists. You should also add tongue cleaner to your list. Just brush your teeth thoroughly and use a tongue cleaner to scrape the bacteria from your tongue.

Use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide

If the bacteria build up in your teeth seems too hard already that you are having a hard time removing it using your regular toothpaste, and then you can use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide instead. Both of these two can dissolve plaque. Simply create a paste out of the two items and then use 50% of the mixture and 50% of the toothpaste when cleaning up your teeth.

Do not forget your regular visits to the dentist

Even if you strictly follow the essential ways to keep your mouth clean, you can never be too safe with bacteria build up. Everything you insert inside the mouth has germs on them, including the foods that you eat. Because of this, you can still be susceptible in getting plaque even though you watch out for your oral health. So to strengthen up your oral care, it is a must that you visit your dentist regularly. It is advised that you get oral checkup at least twice a year. If you are prone to getting oral problems, then you should consider going more often to the dentist for help.
