How To Get Rid Of Reflux
Does your stomach always turn after you have just eaten some food? Can’t you enjoy your favorite meal because you always feel like you are going to be sick after eating? If you constantly feel pain in the abdomen after eating, which may sometimes be accompanied by nausea, then you might be having reflux. While this is a common disorder, it is not to be taken for granted. When you are having acid reflux, your digestive system is heavily affected. Your esophagus, intestine and stomach might be damaged because of too much acid that may be causing your reflux.
Acid reflux disorder, or in more serious cases also known as GERD or gastro esophageal reflux disease, is a stomach disorder that is starting to become more common nowadays. The most common cause of reflux disorder is an unhealthy eating habit. It may occur because of irregular eating pattern, heavy meal consumption, bending over or lifting things after eating or lying down as soon as you have consumed one full meal. Remember, after you have eaten a meal, it is best to wait for about ten minutes before you can do heavy tasks or lie down. This is to ensure that your stomach has already digested the food. If your digestive system fails to work after you have consumed a meal, reflux is highly likely to occur. But do not worry; here are some things you can do to get rid of reflux.
Tea is a drink that can calm your stomach. If you are experiencing reflux pain, just boil some water and make a natural herbal tea. You can also make tea using anise, peppermint and lavender. All natural tea works better than those commercially processed ones, so for best results, use fresh ingredients in making your tea. You can also mix some honey into it to improve the flavor. Both honey and tea have soothing and antibacterial properties that can fight the acid in your stomach.
Eat papaya or pineapple
When you are experiencing reflux, you can opt to eat some fruits that contain enzymes which help in improving your digestive rhythm. Two of the most common fruits that aid in digestion are papaya and pineapple. After eating your main course, it might be a good idea to munch on some chunks of papaya and pineapple. You can also boil the fruits in water and then extract the juice and drink it as tea. Not only can you get rid of reflux this way, but eating fruits will also promote your health.
Eat healthy foods
Reflux may be caused by unhealthy eating habits. In order to improve your digestion, you should start eating healthier foods. Follow the food pyramid and make a balanced diet. Incorporate more vegetables and fruits to your foods. Also, drink lots of water every day.
Arrange a check up with the doctor
Acid reflux may occur every once in a while, but if you are experiencing it often, then you should arrange a check up with the doctor and have yourself examined. Your acid reflux may be associated with GERD or gastro esophageal reflux disorder. This is a serious digestive problem that needs to be treated by a professional right away. So if your reflux seems to be lingering for a couple of days already, then you should call a doctor and seek for medical attention.
