How To Get Rid Of Scorpions

Seeing scorpions in the movies is enough to make you cringe in fear, but what if these scorpions that you are afraid of are actually lurking around your house? It may sound a bit freaky but it is true that scorpions are all around and can even become invasive pests in homes. While scorpions are only widespread in the southwest, they can still crawl to other areas of the world, and if you are unlucky, they might invade your home.

Once scorpions have entered your house, you might encounter a lot of difficulties in trying to get rid of them. In the first place, how will you be able to catch something which you are afraid of? But do not worry; there are some things you can do to get rid of scorpions. If you just want to get away from those creepy, venomous creatures, here are some tips you can follow.

Hire a professional exterminator

First and foremost, if you really are afraid of scorpions and you do not know how to get near them, then you can just opt to hire a professional exterminator. This is the easiest way to get rid of scorpions. While a professional exterminator may charge you some bucks, at least your house got rid of those freaky, invasive scorpions and you can relax again.

Seal house entry points

Those scorpions will not be able to enter your house if there is no entry point for them. If the number of scorpions seems to be multiplying every day, then they might have found the entrance to your lair. So to avoid getting overtaken with a big population of scorpions, you should first look for cracks, crevices and holes that may serve as entry points for those scorpions. Once you have found these entry ways, seal them properly. You can cover them up with woods, use steel tubing, and apply putty or just whatever products that will seal up the entrance.

Get rid of garbage

Scorpions love to wiggle and squeeze themselves through pile of garbage. If you have pile of trash, leaves, woods and other debris in your yard, then these scorpions will find your lot inviting. To reduce the number of scorpions and other pests in your house, remove any garbage around and remember to keep your house and lot clean.

Kill those bugs

Are there lots of cockroaches, crickets and other similar bugs in your area? Then, you should first try to get rid of these bugs and pests because they serve as the number one food resource of most scorpions. If your house if full of these pests, the scorpions will have more reasons to go inside your house. Kill those bugs first and once the food supply of scorpions have been exhausted, they will go away by themselves.

Limit the water

Water is another basic need of the scorpions. Remove any stagnant water in your lot and other water resources that are exposed to those scorpions.

Use pesticide

There are some kinds of pesticides that you can get in the market that can kill those scorpions. Some of the famous spray pesticides or insecticides that you can get are the Cy-Kick CS, Onslaught Insecticide. You can just spray these chemicals around the perimeter where the scorpions are usually found. You can also try spot treatment with Demon WP and other similar products.

When dealing with chemicals, be sure to observe the necessary precautions.
