How to Get Rid of Pomegranate Stains
People loves pomegranate. Aside from being a delicious fruit, pomegranate contains antioxidants that can help in removing toxins in the body. Pomegranate is also manufactured into juices which make it even easier to consume it. Also, pomegranate is used as a type of dye because it has strong colors. This is the reason why pomegranate can produce stains that can be annoying as well.
Due to its strong chemical properties, pomegranate stains can cling on to surface and are often conceived as hard to remove. The color ranges from purple to dark purple or crimson red. It should be noted that the longer the juice of the fruit stays on the fabric, the harder it is to remove the stain from it.
If you caught yourself drinking pomegranate juice and decided to let your shirt or any fabric let in on the fun, you don’t have to worry since pomegranate juice is not hard to remove. As long as you perform the necessary actions to get rid of it immediately, removing it should be a breeze. The following can help you in removing this type of stain:
Act on it immediately
If you don’t have any stain removal spray in your house, then this is the perfect time to purchase one. Although stain removal that is sprayed on the fabric doesn’t magically remove most of the stains, it will help counter the effects of the stain; preventing it from worsening.
Once the fabric is stained, you should make sure that you spray it with the stain remover. This is a pre-treatment of sorts. Let it sit for at least five minutes and then wash it with water and cold detergent. For colored fabrics, do not put bleach when washing it but it is highly recommended to put bleach for white shirts.
This goes especially for white fabric that is safe from the use of bleach. Once you get the stain on the fabric, put a small amount of bleach in the affected area. Let the bleach sit in the stain and then scrub it thoroughly thus making the stain considerably lighter. After this, prepare a tub of water that has detergent and bleach and soak the fabric in it overnight. Make sure that every once in a while; you scrub the affected area until the stain becomes less visible.
For the skin
Pomegranate stains can also get onto your skin. Once this happens, do not let it sit for a long time. Immediately wash your skin with soap and water and make sure that you scrub it thoroughly. One of the more effective ways to get rid of this type of stain on the skin is by using baby oil.
If you happen to forget that there is a big blotch of stain sitting on your clothes, chances are this will dry up. Although this can be considered harder to remove or impossible even for other people, there is still a solution for this scenario. You can use lemon juice, preferably fresh lemon juice, on the surface to saturate the stain. Apply a decent amount of lemon juice and scrub the surface. After this, you should let the fabric exposed under the sunlight. You can follow regular washing procedures to further remove any visible stains from the fabric. Make sure that you start this procedure in the morning.
