How to Get Rid of Engine Sludge
What is engine sludge? Maybe, it is the most damaging problems a vehicle’s engine can encounter. An engine can build up sludge when moisture gets into the oil, and in lower temperatures, solids in the oil can turn into gel. This problem can be worsening by higher temperatures, so cooling system problems can also add to engine sludge build-up. These deposits can build up and cause several types of problems, including blocking the passage of oil to key components in the engine, causing too much wear of engine components, and various other damaging effects that can pressure the life of an engine.
Any leaks that can cause oil contamination will give greatly to engine sludge build-up. Once the sludge has built up in the cylinder heads or small passages in the engine block called galleries and when these galleries get clogged, they starve the engine of oil necessary for proper function. Oil has become more susceptible to overheating and therefore the formation of engine sludge with smaller engines and engine compartments, combined with aluminum components that had a higher heat transfer rate and emissions standards that required higher engine temperatures.
Understand where engine sludge starts
First step is to have knowledge about engine sludge. Engine sludge usually begins in the top end of an engine (valve cover area) and the oil pan. The immediate damage starts to occur when the sludge or gel begins to block the oil screen siphon. Once this blockage happens, catastrophic failure of the engine is eminent. The oil level of the engine may actually look fine but your engine is truly being damaged by every stroke of your crank and camshaft as your engine loses oil pressure and no longer lubricates correctly.
Clean and protect your engine
You have to flush clean and protect your engine. Your motor should be cleaned especially the fuel system, air fuel intake, combustion, exhaust, valve heads, and emission systems. The top of your motor and bottom half as the oil pump, oiling, valve lifters, valves and piston, and piston ring half gets the oil change.

Prefer not to use conventional oil but purely synthetic high-quality oil. Also, don’t save on the engine oil filters and change them every time you do the oil change. Oil filter gives your engine extra protection and keep your car engine oil clean, preventing the engine sludge buildup. You know that car engine oil change every 3,000 miles or every 3 months, whatever comes first, smaller intervals between the oil changes can only improve your car engine performance.
It is advisable to change oil more often when the car gets older.
Take your car to the mechanic
Take your car to the mechanic if you are unable to perform a sea form treatment. He will flush your engine and it will be clean inside just like a new one. This treatment is very effective but costly too and it is not a good idea to do it yourself. Only mechanic knows the right technique, you can simply push the sludge deeper in your engine where it will cause even more damage.
