How To Get Rid Of Paint On Clothes
Whether you are painting your home or making an artwork, it is quite inevitable to have paint on your clothes. Paint on clothes is probably the most difficult kind of stain to remove. In fact, most people just throw away the paint-stained cloth even without trying to remove the stain. But, if you have paint on your clothes, do not give up just yet. You can still find a solution for that paint stain.
Although paint on clothes is very tricky to remove, it is not impossible to completely get rid of it. There are many things that you can do to take those unwanted stain off your clothes. If you have accidentally stained your cloth while using paint, you should get it our as soon as possible. Fresh paint is easier to remove than paint that has already dried. In order to get rid of paint on your clothes, you can try these methods.
Wash right away
If the paint on your clothes is still fresh, you can simply soak the stained cloth in warm water. Let it sit there for about half an hour, and then you can wash it as you normally would.
Vinegar is one of the best home remedies for stains. Simply get a basin and fill it with two parts water and two parts vinegar. Saturate the cloth in this solution for about thirty minutes. The acidic contents of the vinegar can easily remove stains on clothes. When the paint has dissolved, you can wash it with mild detergent and water.
Rub with rubbing alcohol
One of the most common solutions to paint on clothes is to rubbing alcohol. Take your cloth that has been stained. Spray ample amount of rubbing alcohol around the stained area. Rub or brush the area with an old piece of cloth or toothbrush that you do not use anymore. If the stain does not go away, just spray some more alcohol and keep rubbing until you get rid of the paint on your clothes.
You can also use hairspray to get rid of paint stain. Simply mist hairspray over the affected area. Use an old toothbrush and scrub the area until the paint loosens. Then, you can wash the cloth to remove the remaining paint and the hairspray.
Liquid dish soap
What laundry detergent cannot do, the liquid dish soap can. Liquid dish soap can be more powerful in taking away that paint stain on your cloth. Simple rub some liquid dish soap over the stained area. Leave it to saturate for a while. After some minutes, you can try to rub the stain off. Rinse the cloth with water.
Paint thinner can help remove paint stain, especially if the paint is oil-based. First, you can scratch off paint that has dried up. Then, you can apply some paint thinner on the stained area. Scrub the area with sponge or toothbrush. After you have removed majority of the paint, you can wash the cloth using liquid detergent and warm water.
Stain remover works great for removing water-based paint stains. Get the stained cloth and soak it into warm water for a few minutes. Afterwards, apply the stain remover on the paint on your clothes. Let the stain remover sit on the fabric for another couple of minutes. When most of the paint has been eliminated, rinse the cloth with warm water and wash using laundry detergent soap.
