Scum on shower doors is one of the most unsafe things you could have in your household. From mildew to mold, you can’t afford to expose your family to either one. The buildup of these stuff are somehow unpreventable, you need to spend 3 hours or so each week to reduce the number of scum that grows at your shower door. It’s either that or don’t shower which of course is out of the question. The good news is that there are many things in your house that can solve scum problems. With some solutions found at your home, you can save yourself the trouble of worrying about scum on shower doors.
The first thing you have to do is get these things first: 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1/3 cup of ammonia, 1/4 cup of vinegar, 6 cups of water, and a bucket. Now mix all of these solutions into the bucket. This will be your solution to get rid of the soap and hard water deposits. Be prepared to make more because you might need to repeat the procedure a few times before all the scum are gone from your shower door.
Before you start, always protect thyself. Wear gloves, safety goggles, and a respirator mask when entering the fray. Now grab a bristle and start scrubbing the glass door with the solution you made earlier. Then, let the solution stay on the door for at least 30 minutes. This will make the scum easier to remove a little later.
Mix another batch of the solution and follow steps one and two. Repeat cleaning a second time. This is to make sure no scum stays behind.
Rinse the door
After the solution has worked, and the scum looks easy to remove, you can now wash the shower doors. Use hot water and thoroughly rinse your glass doors with it. Make sure you get everything you can off the doors. The hot water will help you do just that.
Dry walls and doors
Use a dry absorbent cloth to remove remaining cleaning solutions from your shower wall and doors. Make sure not to leave any behind because it may just attract mold and mildew again. If you have bathroom freshener, you can use this to lighten up the smell inside your bathroom.
