Seafood smells very fishy because they are from the sea. Being submerged in water for a long time gives them this unique smell that is quite similar to rotten food. Wash your hands with antibacterial detergent
After you have handled some seafood, the smell might stick to your hands. As soon as you have finished with them, you can just try to wash your hands with antibacterial detergent and water. This is enough to remove the smell of seafood. But if the smell is too strong, you can also rub some alcohol in your hands afterwards.
Rub with stainless steel
Some people say that rubbing your hands to stainless steel products will remove the seafood smell. So after handling fish, lobster, crabs, shrimps or the like, get a stainless pot and rub your hands to it. Wash your hands afterwards.
Pour some vinegar on a bowl
Whenever you are cooking seafood, one thing that you can do to lessen the smell is to place a bowl of vinegar on your kitchen. This will take in the seafood smell that is circulating around your kitchen. Vinegar is also useful in removing seafood smell from your hands. Just dip your hands in some water-vinegar solution, and then wash with hand soap and clean water.
Add some lemon
Lemon brings out the flavors of certain foods. If you are cooking seafood and it is starting to give off that putrid smell, you can try to add some freshly-squeezed lemon juice to your meal. If the seafood smell is coming from your refrigerator, a simple trick you can do is to open a box of baking soda and place it near the seafood compartment in your refrigerator. The baking soda will absorb the unwanted odor, so that when you open your fridge to get something, you will not be greeted with that unwanted smell.
