How To Get Rid of Skid Marks On Shoes

Shoes are the ones that protect your feet from the dirty, rough ground. It makes your feet safe and comfortable the whole day. But since it carries the weight of your whole body throughout most of the day, it is inevitable that your favorite pair of shoes will become dirty. When you accidentally hit something, your shoes might even end up with unwanted skid marks.

Skid marks on shoes are really bothersome. No matter how elegant your clothes are, if your shoes have unwanted skid marks on them, then you will not look too sharp and presentable. That is why, when you see that your shoes have skid marks, then you should try to clean it as soon as possible so that you will look fine the next time you wear it. Here are some things you can do to get rid of skid marks on shoes.

Wash it

If the skid mark is just light, then cleaning it up with some water and soap might be enough. As soon as you realize that there are skid marks, then you can just wash up your shoes with detergent and clean water. Wipe it dry, or hang it outside under the heat of the sun.

Apply some baking soda

If detergent and water did not work, then you can try cleaning it up with baking soda. Baking soda is known for its powers in removing different kinds of skid marks, be it on furniture, linoleum floor, and even shoes. Simply heat up some water and add baking soda. Make it into a paste. Using an old toothbrush, apply a bit of the baking soda past into the skid mark. Scrub the area with the old toothbrush until the skid mark has gone. Rinse the area with water and let it dry.

Use a nail polish remover

Nail polish remover is one of the most effective items that can help you get rid of skid marks on shoes. Basically, you just have to get some nail polish remover and a cotton ball. Soak the cotton ball with a couple drops of nail polish remover and rub it thoroughly on the skid marks. It works like magic on skid marks as other people would put it. Nail polish remover is best used on white and other light colored shoes.

Use shoe polisher

If your shoes is black in color and the skid mark is lighter, then you actually will not have much problem removing the skid mark because you can just use a black shoe polisher to cover it up. So if skid marks on black shoes are your problem, then you can just get black shoe polisher. They usually come in liquid or wax form. First, clean up your shoes to remove any dust. Then, just apply the shoe polisher all over the shoes, particularly on the skid mark area. Let it dry for a bit and it’s done.

Get stain eraser

Skid marks are similar to stains and gentle stain eraser will usually remove it from your shoes. Just get soft eraser and work it on the skid mark. Try to erase the skid mark thoroughly but gently so you do not end up making more scratches to your shoes. Once most of the skid mark has been lifted, then wash your shoes clean.
