How To Get Rid of Wisdom Tooth Pain
One of the most common and painful things that a person can complain about is a wisdom tooth. Wisdom tooth grows during your transition to adulthood, hence the name given to it. But unlike other changes in your body, the growth of wisdom tooth can give you a hard time because of the pain that it brings.
Even though the pain is only emanating from a tooth or two, wisdom tooth pain can really make a person cringe in pain the whole day. It is like your mouth is being poked and punched and at some point, you may feel like it is being tortured. Wisdom tooth pain usually starts from the gums and pulp which is why it can get so excruciating. Nevertheless, there are still ways that you can do to get rid of wisdom tooth pain. Before it can hinder you from finishing your tasks, here are some tips that you can do to get rid of the pain that you feel due to wisdom tooth.
Use hot or cold compress
Hot and cold compress can both help in alleviating the pain that you feel in your mouth. Both can also greatly help in lessening the swelling due to wisdom tooth pain. Just get a hot or cold compress and hold it directly to your cheek. This will give you that soothing feeling.
Aside from using hot or cold compress, you can just eat hot and cold foods as well. Hot beverages and drinks can aid in wisdom tooth pain, so do cold foods like ice cream and popsicles.
Rub with garlic
Garlic has antibacterial properties that can kill bacteria that cause wisdom tooth pain. However, it may not be good for your taste. Simply crush a piece of garlic clove and rub it directly on your wisdom tooth and the surrounding gums. Repeat this as often as you want, until the pain subsides.
Brush with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide
Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are more powerful in killing bacteria than your usual toothpaste. It can also lessen the pain you feel. So instead of brushing with just toothpaste, you can create a paste out of a pinch of baking soda and a drop or two of hydrogen peroxide. Add this paste to your regular toothpaste and brush your teeth thoroughly. Rinse with warm water and salt solution for the best results.
Pay your dentist a visit
If the wisdom tooth pain is due to infected nerves in your mouth, then you may have to visit the dentist to find a treatment. There are toothaches that can be treated with home remedies, but there are some that are best left to the professionals. So if you are experiencing too much pain that you cannot even do anything at all anymore and if your wisdom tooth pain is accompanied by other fever and cold, then you should just go for a checkup and ask for a professional’s advice.
Keep your mouth clean
In order to prevent wisdom tooth pain or toothache in general, then you should always keep your mouth clean and follow a proper oral hygiene. Brush your teeth, tongue, cheeks and gums at least three times a day. You can also get mouthwash and dental floss to remove those bacteria that cannot be removed by toothbrush. Also, do not forget to visit your dentist at least twice a year.
